About the Cylindrical Coir Bird Nest
This nest lies on its side like a small barrel, with thick coconut coir walls and a round entrance hole near one end. It hangs level from a cord, so you can put it up on a hook, tree branch or balcony railing. The long, horizontal chamber gives birds a deep space to settle into, set back from the doorway and out of the wind and rain, which is just what nesting sparrows look for. Coir lets air through, so the inside stays comfortable in summer. The entrance is sized for house sparrows, munias and similar small garden birds. Hang it with the entrance facing away from strong afternoon sun, and you may soon hear tiny chicks calling from inside.
