About the Swing Coir Nest
This nest is woven from coconut coir into a tall teardrop, with a slim neck at the top and a rounded chamber below. The entrance sits low on the front, much like the hanging nests some Indian birds weave in trees, and the deep chamber keeps eggs and chicks tucked away. The neck ends in a loop, so it hangs from a hook, branch or balcony railing and sways gently in the breeze. Coir lets air through on hot days and keeps out wind and rain, so it stays comfortable through the summer and the monsoon. Hang it in a quiet, shaded spot a little above head height before the nesting season, and you may soon see sparrows or munias carrying in grass to line it.
