About the Rounded Roof Bird House

This bird house has a chunky, rounded shape: a curved roof sweeping over the top, a round entrance hole in the front and a wide base that sticks out a little at the front as a landing ledge. It is made from pressed wood board with a light, natural wood-chip look. It fixes to a wall or post. The closed body keeps out wind and rain and gives house sparrows, munias and similar small birds a quiet place to rest or build a nest. Its round roof looks friendly among potted plants, and a sheltered wall under the eaves is a good spot to start.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions
How long before birds move in?

Birds take their time. A pair may visit a new house for a few days or weeks before they settle in. Put it up early, leave it in one place, and you may soon see them carrying in grass and twigs.

Where should I put it up?

Above head height, on a wall, pillar or strong branch, in the shade and out of the rain. Keep it a little away from the feeder and out of reach of cats.

Should I put anything inside?

No, leave it empty. Birds like to build their own nest. A little dry grass or a few small twigs nearby is all they need.

How do I clean it?

Once the young birds have flown, take out the old nest and wipe the inside with plain water. Let it dry fully before the next pair moves in. No soaps or sprays.
