About the Hand Cultivator
A hand cultivator is the quickest way to bring tired, packed soil back to life. Its three curved tines break up the hard top layer that forms after weeks of watering, so air and water can reach the roots again, and they tug out shallow weeds as you go. Scratch a little compost, vermicompost or cow dung manure into the soil with it, and the goodness reaches the roots instead of sitting on top. It is small enough to work around the base of potted plants without harming them and sturdy enough for flower beds and vegetable patches. A quick loosening every couple of weeks keeps container plants growing well. Knock off the soil and dry it after use.
