About the Flat Khurpi With Wooden Handle
This khurpi pairs a broad, sharp steel blade with a smooth wooden handle that feels natural and warm in the hand. The wide blade slices through weed roots and hard soil, and it moves plenty of earth with each stroke, so it is good for preparing a bed, mixing compost or cow dung manure into the topsoil and lifting seedlings to transplant. Its flat edge also works well for loosening the soil around potted plants without disturbing their roots. Wooden handles last for years with a little care: knock the soil off after use, dry the blade, and keep the tool out of the rain.
