Know Your Green Song of India
Botanically known as Dracaena reflexa, the Green Song of India is a tropical evergreen native to the islands of the Indian Ocean, including Madagascar, Mauritius, and Mozambique. Belonging to the Asparagaceae family and grown for its slender, arching lance-shaped foliage and naturally elegant woody trunk. It is the non-variegated form of the widely cultivated Song of India, producing rich, uniform deep green leaves that give it a cleaner, more understated character than its variegated counterpart. Like the variegated variety, its name is believed to reflect its deep association with the broader Indian Ocean region, where it has been cultivated as an ornamental plant for centuries. Dracaena reflexa is the national plant of Madagascar, one of the most biodiverse islands on the planet, and home to thousands of plant species found nowhere else in the world.
